Safeguarding Update for Parents & Carers

Dear parents/carers

KEEPING SAFE AND WELL

In light of the recent government guidelines I just wanted to update you all on how to access support if you need it. Our Academies are open for our learners who wish to take up their place. For those who choose to remain at home, we have a number of support measures in place. You will be contacted on a regular basis so we can talk to you and your child to explore how things are and if you require any further help either with remote learning or with wellbeing. It is really important that you answer your phone when we ring you or if you miss our call to either call or text back so we can speak to you.

We will continue to upload information on our website and social media platforms so please keep checking in. You will be signposted on how to access particular help if you are struggling. You can also contact your child’s tutor to request help and we can make appropriate referrals if necessary.

Availability and contact arrangements for families and professionals who wish to make contact with the Designated Safeguarding Leads/Deputies

During these unprecedented circumstances, the Designated Safeguarding Leads/Deputies will be available to be contacted by children, families and other services and agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all our vulnerable children. They can be contacted via the school telephone number in the first instance and whether they are on or off-site they will gain contact with any family or professional as soon as possible.

Alternatively, they may be contacted via the school’s email address central.admin@tanmat.org

Trinity Academy Newcastle – Caroline Meadwell and Michele Osborne

Trinity Academy New Bridge- Nina McDougal and Alan Stevenson

Trinity Solutions Academy – Sarah Stuart and Lynn McNally

Trinity Post 16-Solutions Ltd- Vicky Elliott and Marie Bell

Contact with the Designated Safeguarding Leads/Deputies should be within the hours of the school day 8.30am to 4.30pm ONLY. Designated Safeguarding Leads/Deputies cannot be responsible for not receiving calls and messages outside of these times. In the event that children or families need support immediately please contact our front door services immediately.

The safety and wellbeing of you and your children is of the utmost importance to us so you need never feel you are doing this on your own.

Take care

Michelle Higgins- Trust Safeguarding Lead

Update 2nd December 2021

12-15 Vaccination Walk in at Grainger Market

Young people between the ages of 12-15 will be able to attend a walk-in vaccination clinic at the Grainger Market from this weekend. Each Saturday, between 10am – 5pm, young people will be able to attend the market for a vaccine without an appointment. Previously, this age group could only be vaccinated in school or through appointments from the national booking system. It is advised that young people attend with a parent or carer, but the on-site clinical will vaccinate young people who consent themselves, subject to a consultation.

The clinic will offer vaccines to everybody over the age of 12, not just children and young people.

Update 9th February 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

As this half term draws to a close, we are keen to ensure that you are up to date with current news and developments. Key points to share are as follows:

The government has announced that it intends to reopen schools on 8 March. Currently, we don't know what this will look like and will keep you informed of what this means for you and your child once further guidance is released.
Free school meal vouchers will continue to be issued to cover half term.
The Trust COVID Risk Assessment and academy customised plans have been updated in response to the new more infectious variants. We continue to do everything we can to minimise the risk of infection in school. For example, all students who consented were tested twice in week 2 and 3 of the term and weekly tests for all staff were introduced in week 2, stepping up to twice weekly by week 4.
We are putting significant time and resources into ensuring that our students are safe and that you as parents and carers are given the right support when you need it. We are also driving forward with our core agenda of preparing the parents of the future. Our current priority is to ensure that all our students have access to our Passport to Prepare, which will be launched after half term.
If your child is not coming into one of our academies can you please encourage them to engage with our fantastic remote learning offer? Accessing this will give them a daily focus and sense of achievement, as well as helping them to still feel part of school life. Please let us know if you are experiencing any difficulties in accessing this.
Finally, I wanted to reassure you that the mood across the trust remains consistently positive and calm. Our staff are working incredibly hard to address the needs of our students, whether they are attending school or not. As ever if you have any questions or concerns please get in touch.

Kind regards

All Heads of School

Update 8th January 2021

Dear parent/carer

I am writing to bring you up to date with the current situation in our academy. Our intention is to post all updates online, so if you haven't done so already, I would recommend that you find and like our Facebook page.

In this challenging time, our priority is to do all that we can to ensure that you and your family remain safe. We fully understand and support the decision that many of you have taken to keep your child at home and would like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that a remote learning offer, in line with government recommendations, is available to them. For those learners still attending school, they will continue with their learning as normal. We are also working hard to get the required testing regime up and running for those learners and staff who are in school. Finally, our commitment is to maintain the same high standards in our communication with you as during the first lockdown.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
