Functional Skills Assessments All Levels

Functional Skills tests in English, Mathematics, Science and ICT are conducted at the end of each month. Learners should confirm the specific assessment date with their subject teacher to ensure they do not miss their examination.

Additional examination dates will be published as they become available.

Year 11 and Year 10 Mock examination dates are currently to be confirmed (TBC) and will be updates when confirmed.

Contingency Day Information

The GCSE contingency day for 2027 is 

Wednesday, 23 June 2027

What is the Contingency Day?

• Purpose: It is a backup date designated by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) in case of national or significant local disruption to exams (such as extreme weather or technical issues).
• Student Availability: All GCSE students must remain available up to and including this date, even if their personal exam timetable finishes much earlier. 
• Travel and Plans: Students and parents should not book holidays or travel arrangements that require the student to be away before Wednesday, 23 June 2027.

Booking a holiday during official exam periods is considered an unacceptable reason for absence by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and will likely result in receiving no marks for the missed paper.

Key Information Regarding Holidays and Exams

• No Special Consideration: The JCQ "A guide to the special consideration process" explicitly states that taking holidays during assessments is a domestic inconvenience and not an acceptable reason for absence.
• No Alternative Arrangements: You will not be eligible for special consideration or an alternative assessment.
• Impact on Grades: Receiving no marks for a missed paper can significantly impact your final grade, potentially leading to a fail for that entire subject.
• Advance Warning: Exam dates for all general and vocational qualifications are published months in advance by the awarding bodies to prevent scheduling conflicts.
• Contingency Days: The exam timetables include "contingency days" at the end of the exam series. These days are designed to be used in the event of national or significant local disruption (e.g., extreme weather, public health crisis) and candidates are required to be available for exams on these dates should they be rescheduled.

GCSE Summer Examinations 2026

The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), contingency date to put in your diary.

This date may be used if there is any disruption to a day of exams for any reason. In such a case exams may be rescheduled.

• Full Day of Wednesday 24th June (right at the end of the exam window).

Candidates need to make sure they are available on these days and must not arrange a holiday until at least after 24th June 2026

If students are not available because they are on holiday and one of their exams is rescheduled to this day, they will not be eligible for special consideration by the exam boards.

We hope that the use of the contingency days will not be necessary. However, we feel duty bound to pass on the JCQ information and request that candidates/learners be available on these dates, in case it is required.

Please be aware that your child may be entered for Functional Skills Maths and English and these tests are running all the way through to the end of June for year 11.

Results Day: GCSE results will be released to candidates at the respective sites on Thursday 20th August 2026, between 09:30-11:30.

A form of photo ID is required for ANYONE collecting examination results or certificates

If you are unable to collect your results on results day, please complete the form below and we will arrange for a statement of results to be emailed directly to your school email account only.

Year 11 Leavers Information (2026/27)

School Email Accounts

Please note that school email accounts for Year 11 leavers (2026/27 cohort) will be deactivated in October 2027.

Student Reports and Examination Results

Year 11 leavers' reports, including any examination results, will be sent to students' school email accounts by the end of September 2027. Students are advised to download and save copies of all reports and results before their school email account is deactivated.

If you require assistance accessing your reports or examination results, please contact the school before your account closure date.

Certificates: Formal examination certificates will be ready to collect from main reception at respective sites between the hours of 10am – 2pm Monday to Friday from Monday 30th November 2026.

If you have opted for someone to collect your exam certificates on your behalf

You will need to either:

• Send email from your school email account to: admin.central@tanmat.org before your account is deactivated (30 September 2025)
  • I (candidate name) give permission for (Named person) to collect my certificates on my behalf. I will ensure that (Named person) understands that they will need to bring photo ID in order for Trinity Academy Trust to release my certificates.

or

• Write a letter which your named person must produce on arrival
  • Your full legal name (not a known as)
  • The address we currently hld on file for you
  • Your date of birth
  • Candidate number (if known)
  • Statement:
    • I (Candidate name) give permission for (Full name of person collecting and relationship to yourself) to collect my certificates on my behalf. I will ensure that (Named person) understands that they will need to bring their photo identification in order for Trinity Academy Trust to release my certificates.

This will be sent to your school email address you are advised to download this before the account is officially deactivated on 30th October.
