Letter to Families - Free Daily School Meals

Exciting News for Our Families: Free Daily School Meals for All Learners

We are delighted to share an important update that directly benefits our families and learners. Following feedback from parents and carers and the introduction of our new catering provider, the Board of Trustees at Trinity Academy Newcastle Trust has approved a new initiative designed to support every child in our Trust.

What does this mean for you?

From January 2026 to July 2026, every learner who does not currently receive Free School Meals will be offered a school meal at no cost, funded entirely by the Trust, for each day they attend school. This means no daily meal charges for your child during this period.

Why are we doing this?

We want to ensure that every learner has access to a nutritious meal each day, helping families reduce costs and supporting children’s health and wellbeing. This initiative will be reviewed in the Summer Term to understand its impact and benefits for our community.

Important – Please Continue to Apply for Free School Meals if Eligible

If you believe your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, we strongly encourage you to apply. Doing so ensures your child receives their entitlement and provides the Trust with additional government funding. This funding allows us to invest in more resources and support for all learners across our schools. If you are unsure about eligibility or need assistance with the application process, please contact your child’s school site, where our team will be happy to help.

Please note: This initiative does not make learners eligible for the government’s Free School Meals scheme during holiday periods. Holiday support remains available only for those who meet the official criteria.

We hope this initiative makes a real difference for families and that learners enjoy the improved catering provision across the Trust. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide the very best for our children.
